Tellington Touch talk and Social Evening – March 2019
Speaker – Ellen Lindley, Tellington Touch Practitioner and APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers).
The evening was a great success. 43 people attended, Ellen proved to be an eloquent speaker, very passionate about her subject, she was knowledgeable and helpful. She started by telling us about the history of Tellington Touch, and about why she first became involved. We heard some interesting case studies, together with convincing statistics. Ellen described many of the various ‘touches’ which are involved, she cleverly demonstrated these by asking the audience to do the ‘touches’ on themselves during her talk. Ellen also told us briefly about ground exercises and wraps – both of which are apparently such big subjects in their own right that Ellen could devote a whole session to each. A short Question & Answer session followed.
During the meal break Ellen invited people to approach her to ask questions – several people took her up on this, and they came away very pleased with the advice Ellen had provided.
The raffle made £48 for our charity DOG A.I.D.
There were many positive comments, both about Ellen’s talk, about the fish n chip supper and about Grace’s refreshing fresh fruit salad. Wendy Pickup Seminar Secretary.

OPEN SHOW MAY 2019
This year we had to contend with the challenge of moving venue twice. The first venue, Walford College, had been taken over by another college and the new management did not want any dog events, also some buildings which apparently contained asbestos were going to have to be demolished so no members of the public were going to be allowed on site. We were lucky to find Shrewsbury Sports Village, this promised to suit all of our needs, and was available on our show date – we booked to go there and just managed to get this sorted before the schedules went to print. We were subsequently told that Shrewsbury Sports Village was going to be used to count the votes for the European election, so once again our show was homeless. Oswestry Leisure Centre agreed to allow us to move our show to their sports hall, and although it was smaller than Shrewsbury Sports Village we made it work.
The weather was mostly kind, some wind at times but it stayed dry for the majority of the day. The show opened at 09.30 and judging commenced on time at 10.00. Rings were busy continually, with no ring left empty during the day. Rings 1 and 2 were later combined for the Stakes classes and for BIS.
265 dogs were entered for the show. Best In Show judge was Mrs Sandy Lane ( Kulawand) BIS 1 Jane Howarth’s WSS D Quensha You’ve Got A Friend at Arkview.
